Novikov's solution (usually called Solutio Novikov or Solutio Viridis nitentis spirituosa in Latin) is a solution of elastic collodion and brilliant green (lat. Viride nitens; viride brillans) in a mixture of ethanol and ether (sometimes tannin and castor oil are added).
